I have witnessed odd technical problems flying for my first time with Helios Airways to Santorini last summer. Just as we were about to enter the take-off strip, the plane went to an halt and a technician was called on board. The technician had a long discussion with the pilot and kept going forth and back. The Pilot informed the passengers that there was indeed a technical problem but that those planes had so many sensitive warning devices that there was no risk. After one hour of delay the plane took off.
I want to express my sympathies and condolences to all the families of the passengers and crew who lost their lives in this tragic accident.

Apparently, with so few planes in their fleet and in order to get as much revenue out of them as possible, these planes are never on the ground for more than 3-4 hours or so, barely enough time to give them a good check-over let alone service them properly.
There were cases of Helios flight crew reporting problems in the past, only to hear that will be fixed next time round.
With more and more horror stories comming out about things that have gone wrong on other helios flights, it is starting to look as if this is another case of sheer negligence in the persuit of end profit and a clear lack of corporate governance.
I hope for once this is not swept under the carpet as so many other cases of bad corporate governance in Cyprus have been and that if the executive management is found to be guilty of negligence that justice is fully served and they get put away for a long time.
May I offer my sincere condolences and sympathy for the families/friends of the passengers and crew who have been affected by this preventable air accident.
The management of Helios Airways will always have to live with this on their consciouses. That yes, perhaps they should of paid just a little bit more attention to this particular aircraft. Instead of just letting it get airborne knowing full well there was a fault.
I hope these people are imprisoned on the grounds of murder, because this is what they have committed.

I was going to take the exact same plane of Helios Airways to fly to Athens just a couple of days after the accident...I still can´t believe how frivolous companies can be...Helios seems to have made several mistakes with its fleat, risking the lives of hundrends of people. This aircraft appears to have had some many technical problems that it should not be allowed to fly at all. It was a moving bomb and it just happened to explode on the 14th of August. Any one of us could be on a death flight by Helios.
I trully hope that the truth will come out and the people responsible will be punished.
My sincere condolences to the families of those you were lost and especially to Louisa´s who was about to get married next month...
Helios Airways are a typical Cypriot company - greedy bastards that put profit before safety!
I used to work at Larnaca airport, EVERYBODY who works there knows what death traps Helios planes are! They NEVER service them and cut every corner possible to get them back in the air and to keep the money coming in from doomed passengers!
On the 7th of August, the SAME plane took off from Larnaca, heading for Glasgow. After 15 minutes, it had to return to Larnaca because of technical problems.
Helios should be brought to justice - what happened on 14th of August was MURDER!
